As of March 2019, there was approximately $400 million invested in simultaneous, ongoing healthcare remodeling projects. How do these healthcare facilities ensure their money is being put to good use? It comes down to three services – planning, design and construction – that lead the transformation of healthcare facilities from good to great.

At Medxcel, our Planning, Design and Construction team (also known as Medxcel PDC) is dedicated to our people and customers, not to mention driving results. We call this personal focus iSERV, which represents Inspired People, Service Excellence, Engaged Customer, Reach and Value Optimization.
We also provide tools, processes, support resources, data analytics and more to achieve and maintain your facility’s success. It’s simple: Multiplying your facility’s efficiencies while reducing costs isn’t only doable, but sustainable.

What key components of Medxcel PDC make this possible?
Medxcel grows your in-house capabilities to empower your facility to cut ties with pricey external service contracts. We also leverage expertise with vendor-neutral partners that are committed to helping your facility expand, remodel or update.
When all combined, planning, design and construction equals standardization. In fact, compliance assurance and a seamless transition to our facilities management team ensures your facilities will open successfully and on time.
What does the planning process look like?
You can’t start a construction project without a plan. Medxcel’s team of experts focuses on how healthcare facilities need to be flexible when faced with rapid changes in the industry, code compliance, neighborhood health, sustainability and energy management. On a smaller scale, we perform pre-design efforts to help healthcare leaders determine where to invest their initial resources. Our team also assists your facility’s owner in providing Owner Project Requirements (OPR) for use in business case presentations and future planning.
What does the design process look like?
Once we’ve got the planning down, Medxcel PDC goes through several design phases with your facility managers. The project team analyzes multiple factors with a joint goal of a complete set of construction documents and appropriate Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) approvals. After the development of the OPR, we advance drawings and specifications through collaboration with the hospital team. During the design phase, our project managers work with the project team on budget, risks, goals, safety and scheduling. Medxcel PDC also facilitates Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) and Interim Life Safety Measure (ILSM) analysis and assists with approvals leading to the construction phase.
What does the construction process look like?
Construction is a complex process involving many phases, stakeholders and subject matter experts to assure all specifications are met and that all systems are operational, safe and within budget. Consistent with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) Guide and the Construction Extension to the PMBOK®, project managers manage everything from start to finish. We even have a proactive program that includes follow-up walks to assure continued complete customer satisfaction.
Seamlessly integrating planning, design and construction is key to a successful healthcare facility. Ensure you are prepared by partnering with Medxcel today! Contact us at info@medxcel.com or 855-633-9235 to learn more.
