Describe your day-to-day responsibilities.
Every day is different for me. Many days I start by touching base with our talent acquisition team and looking at our open requisitions. We strategize about how to fill open positions at a fast past, getting the right quality talent in the door. I also spend time with my team focusing on our current associates, ensuring they are engaged and love what they’re doing, have great leadership, feel challenged and have the development opportunities they need to grow their careers. We emphasize long-term development, not only retaining associates but developing them to learn and grow with the Medxcel organization.
Describe your career path and how you arrived in your current role.
I worked in a variety of human resources functions at several organizations before joining Medxcel. I spent much of my career working in the HR generalist space but have also spent time as a recruiter and in the talent management space focusing on succession plans and talent development training programs for leaders and associates. Through it all I have always been focused on people, growing my knowledge base throughout my career. During the past several years I focused on career opportunities in the healthcare market and Medxcel sparked my interest in joining a healthcare organization. I’ve enjoyed my time here and the people I’ve met along my journey so far.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is that no two days are exactly the same. I thrive on the different challenges that I encounter each day. I collaborate on a wide variety of issues facing our organization including how we continue to grow, how we think about bringing new opportunities and associates to Medxcel, and how we structure our organization for functionality and scalability. I love tackling all these issues from the perspective of the people who make up our organization.
Which of Medxcel core values speaks most to you?
The core value that really stands out to me is integrity, I think that’s the very foundation of being a human. The other core values fall in around integrity, whether it’s dedication, serving poor communities, reverence, creativity, or wisdom. Integrity provides the foundation that the other values build upon. If you don’t have integrity and you’re not viewed as a trusted partner, then you have a rocky foundation. I want to be known as someone that has a solid foundation based on integrity, who can be trusted and who has high standards. The rest falls into place after that.
What is the most exciting part of your work here?
The most exciting thing we’re addressing is the future state of Medxcel and the growth we’re anticipating. We’re preparing for growth in a variety of ways, ensuring the organization is aligned and that we have the talent in place to serve our customers, expand into new markets, and launch new service offerings. The future is bright for Medxcel and it’s exciting to be a part of the planning for that future success.
What would you say to someone who asks you if you recommend working for Medxcel?
I encourage individuals to join Medxcel. Medxcel not only offers great benefits, but the opportunity to work with other associates that truly have a heart. When you think about individuals that care about each other, that lift each other up, and support one another, that’s the culture we offer here. Medxcel has hard working, dedicated associates who love what they do, but know they’ve got a greater purpose in life and want to work towards that. In our business, people come first and so I think Medxcel offers a refreshingly difference kind of workplace.
What is the most meaningful part of the Medxcel culture to you?
To me the most meaningful part of Medxcel’s culture is the spirit of caring. At Medxcel, you’re part of a larger family of associates who provide a broad network of support, whether it’s prayer warriors in a time of need or individuals who lift each other up or offer assistance to someone in need. The way we care about and for each other is what makes Medxcel so special.
What makes you proud to work at Medxcel?
I’m proud to work at Medxcel for so many reasons. Most importantly we make a difference in patients’ lives, and we ensure that the hospitals we serve are well maintained, that our associates greet customers and patients with a smile on our face and are professional. It’s important to recognize that most patients don’t enter a hospital when good things are taking place, they generally don’t want to be there. To have a welcoming atmosphere with a manicured lawn, comfortable rooms, and associates with smiles on their faces greeting them, those things really make a difference. Knowing that we get to play a part in that and that we have so much pride in the facilities we manage, hopefully those things help lighten the burden on the patients coming into the hospitals we serve.
